Crystals manifest a moment of stability in the ever-evolving flux of energy and movement. This nature may have resulted in people often drawing connections between crystalline solids and the magical, sacred, mythical, or the occult, solidifying with them their moment in time. For her fourth solo exhibition Once it sets, Nicole Wong preoccupies herself with crystalline solids, recognising the unceasing potential for transformation in their structures. A suncatcher curtain made with opalite and glass beads, 3D prints of bodily crystals sold as commodities, a projection of microscopic crystal structures, Wong traverses the world of matter and infinitesimal scales to deconstruct and rebuild juxtaposed meanings.
