As part of the Non-Local Non-Solo series by nProjekt, we are excited to welcome artists from Barcelona and Buenos Aires to Hong Kong this November. This series, an evolution of the original Non-Solo, expands on the concept of artistic and cultural exchanges by fostering dialogue between local and international practices. Partnering with two artist-run spaces overseas, this new chapter seeks to broaden the scope of visual conversations, connecting diverse perspectives in a dynamic cross-cultural context.
“Wherever. In the Beginning, It Was an Island” introduces Silvia Renda as the featured Barcelona-based artist, selected with Tangent Projects, in this unique exhibition. Renda’s dual-channel video blends real and imagined spaces, reflecting the memories of Sicilian emigrants and Menorcan islanders. Through ethereal storytelling, she invites the audience to consider the complex relationship between place, memory, and identity. This exhibition, with guest artists Florence Lee, Harry Tsang, and Elaine Wong, is a poetic meditation on the fluid boundaries between personal and collective histories.
