Oi! Onsite: ORGANs

Oi! OnSite invites artists to explore the space and create site-specific artworks, infusing this Grade II historic building with fresh imagination and interpretation. This year, young artist Inkgo Lam presents her debut solo exhibition at Oi! Warehouse, where she intersperses contemporary bamboo sculptures with interactive installations to create a rich tapestry of art.
In this exhibition, Inkgo envisions the century-old Oi! Warehouse as a living entity, drawing inspiration from the building’s architectural duality of separation and connection. Her intricate bamboo artworks represent the five major organs of human body — heart, liver, spleen, lungs and kidneys — along with their corresponding functions: activation, dissipation, absorption, transmutation and elimination. These elements serve as metaphors for the diverse experiences that shape our lives. The exhibition invites the visitors to explore the delicate intersections between architectural space, the human body and the paths of existence. By incorporating black bamboo cultivated at Oi!, Inkgo embodies the spirit of “Oi! OnSite”, bridging past and present, tradition and innovation, through the timeless art of bamboo.
